Doing it the right way
One-third of software development projects fail or are abandoned outright because of cost overruns, delays, and reduced functionality. Many software teams consist purely of developers with no provision for engineering staff or project managers. Such projects usually start-off making good progress but quickly begin to slow down exponentially as the complexity of the code base increases.
Well-known pitfalls can be avoided easily and inexpensively by:
- Gathering requirements correctly
- Formalising the design procedure and development process
- Structuring the teams and delegating tasks in a way that maximise your capabilities.
- Maintaining only those software engineering standards which apply to your development model, capabilities and budget.
With years of experience in the Software industry, a GES consultant can often intervene in order to salvage abandoned code, analyse and process miss formed data-sets and conduct usability studies. In most cases however prevention is the only way to avoid wasting your budget.
GES can watch over your project, gather requirements from your users, conduct an initial analysis, and even take responsibility for the design so that you can concentrate on running the project and your developers can concentrate on making things work.
